What is TDEECalc?
TDEECalc is a free iPhone app and companion website for working out how many calories you burn and eat. The site hosts calculators for TDEE, BMR, macros, protein, body fat and more, each with its formulas shown. The TDEECalc app turns the same math into a personal plan, then learns your real maintenance calories from your weight trend.
The site exists to answer calorie questions clearly and to show its working. Every number comes from one tested calculation engine, and every claim that needs support cites a peer-reviewed paper or an official health body. See the methodology and the editorial policy.
Who makes it?
TDEECalc is made by Akshay Reddy, an independent developer. He builds and maintains the iPhone app and wrote the code behind the calculators on this site. The site is not produced by a company, a clinic or a team of nutrition professionals, and nothing here should be read as medical advice.
What principles guide it?
- Accuracy. Formulas are implemented exactly as published and checked by automated tests. Results are labeled as estimates, because they are.
- Privacy. The app has no account and no ads, keeps your data on your device and uses no third-party analytics. The site’s calculators run in your browser. Details are in the app privacy policy.
- No shame, no streak pressure. The app uses flexible weekly check-ins and calm language. It avoids streak resets, fake urgency and guilt.
- Free. All current app features are free, with no paywall.
- Honest limits. Calculators give a starting point. Your own weight trend is a better guide, which is why the app learns from it. Read the medical disclaimer before acting on any estimate.
How is this site funded?
The site is not monetized. It has no ads, no affiliate links and no sponsored content. It exists to support the free TDEECalc app by helping people find accurate calorie information and, if they want it, a private tool to act on it. The only call to action on most pages is a link to the app.
